Fourth Known $5 Gold Liberty Coin Discovered!

Originally thought to be a counterfeit, this 1854-S that was recently graded by NGC has become 1 of 4 known to man. What makes this coin so special is that it has one of the lowest mintages of any regular issue made for circulation in the U.S. In addition, it is one of the first coins that came out of the California Gold Rush from the U.S. Mint in San Francisco.

- The Brasher Doubloons were struck in 1787 in New York City, which was then the capital of the US.

2019 America the Beautiful Quarter Series Designs

Recently, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee voted on the five designs that will be used in the 2019 America the Beautiful quarters series. This committee was created over a decade ago to advise the Secretary of the Treasury on which themes and designs should be selected for coinage.

The 2017 American Liberty Silver Coin

Released on June 14, the Philadelphia Mint created a silver companion proof coin to the 2017 225th Anniversary American Liberty High-Relief Gold Coin. Just like its Gold counterpart, the American Liberty Silver Coin depicts an African-American woman wearing the classic five-pointed star crown.The coin is 99.9% fine silver and has a nice proof finish. The coin sold out immediately when it was initially released from the mint. However, it is still possible to get the coin.
