Description
The 1882 Philadelphia Mint half eagle is a widely available gold coin in grades up to Select Uncirculated. However, examples in Choice Mint State are scarce, and full Gem pieces are exceptionally rare. At MS66, this coin stands as one of the great condition rarities of the series from the Philadelphia Mint.
This remarkable specimen boasts frosty luster, a sharp strike, and an attractive reddish-gold hue.
The PCGS population includes only 2 in this grade, with none higher. NGC has certified just 3 in MS66, also with none graded higher.
